About this Service

Proper Trimming, Not Topping

A well-trimmed tree is safer, healthier, and frankly — looks like someone who knows what they're doing has been on the property. A badly topped tree is a scar that takes a decade to grow out of.

We follow ANSI A300 pruning standards. That means the right cuts at the right collar, no flush cuts, no lion-tailing, and no topping. We come out, walk the trees with you, and make a plan that balances what the tree needs with what you actually want from it — shade, clearance, view lines, or storm-prep.

Signs Your Trees Need a Trim

If any of these sound familiar, it's probably time for a professional to walk the property.

Branches are rubbing against the roof, gutters, or windows
You can see dead limbs, hanging deadwood, or broken branches in the canopy
The canopy is too dense — no light reaches the grass beneath
Tree is lopsided, has heavy laterals, or a co-dominant stem forming a weak union
Hurricane season is approaching and you haven't had it pruned in 2+ years
Tree is blocking street signs, mail trucks, or your driveway

Our Process, Step by Step

Same approach on every job — whether it's a single tree or a property-wide contract.

01

Walk the Property

We look at every tree you want addressed, identify structural issues, and agree on a scope in writing.

02

Pruning Plan

We decide together: thinning, raising, reduction, deadwooding. Every tree gets a specific plan, not a generic haircut.

03

Clean Cuts Only

Proper ANSI cuts at the branch collar. No topping. No stubs. Wound-reducing techniques on mature trees.

04

Haul & Clean

All branches chipped on-site. Chips hauled off or spread in your beds — your call. Hardscape blown clean.

Frequently Asked

Quick answers to the questions homeowners ask us most often about this service.

How often should I trim my trees?

Most hardwoods do well on a 2–3 year cycle. Fast growers (ficus, oak after storms) may want yearly. We'll tell you honestly when your trees don't need it yet.

Why shouldn't trees be topped?

Topping removes the leaf area a tree needs to survive, causes sprawling regrowth called 'water sprouts,' and creates weak unions that fail in storms. It's bad for the tree and bad for your liability.

Do you trim during hurricane season?

Yes — this is actually the best time to do hurricane-prep pruning. We book up quickly in June, so earlier is better.
